Hmm okay, lucky I have micro pictures from it to see the markings code.
But it has the marking code TR1 SMD 3 pin SOT-23.
    tr1-q6.jpg

And as far as I can find this, it seems to be the NTR4501N power MOSFET.

    Yeah, hdmi issues...

Problem is, that most of the connections are going straight to the cpu with only the diodes connected to them which are mainly added for the power surge protection.
In any case, by measure the diodes at the tracks side to the cpu and by ohms or diode it gives here no values between the ground and the track.
Vdc measurements of these diodes are between the 1.3/1.4vdc without a hdmi connection.

If it it not caused due one of the diodes, leaking to ground, then it could be a bad connection of one of the hdmi lines to the cpu.
it could be a bad solder ball under the cpu to the hdmi, or the cpu may be damaged.

In any case, check at least the hdmi diodes.

As far as I see it then it could be the 12v to 5v Dc to Dc regulator ic, the U2.
See if you have the 12v to it, and check if you have the 5v out to the 4R7 coil and the output inductors F862/F86

In that case, I wonder on what circuit/location you missing the 5v while the 5v main voltages is working.

in the middle it's not my tension
the voltage measured by me is the right is on the left

    0 ---- 0
    3. 3 ---- 12
    12 ----- 0
    12 ----- 3.7

I wonder why you say earlier that it gave the 5v output while you now say that the 5v output pin is zero.
In any case, these dc step down controllers may have a on/off pin, and since you say that there are two pins zero, it may logic that this ic is switched off.
Unfortunately, I could not find a datasheet of these AHH2XA SOP-8 ic to see what the pins are, but it could be that it's just switched off because the box failed to run the first stage.

Maybe, if you know were you have create a short and then this issue accursed, it could be that nearby a inductor has been interrupted.

Yeah that's just the problem, Since I could not find the datasheet from it, therefore I can also not find out if there is a replacement.
The only thing I could find is one seller for these AHH2XA SOP-8 ic's, but the datasheet he offers only on request and since I already did that a few days ago, with no response, I have so my doubts of this seller.

    bonsoir johnny
J'ai pu résoudre le problème après une longue tente
J'ai enlevé le connecteur HDMI, la boîte fonctionne maintenant

"I was able to solve the problem after a long tent, I removed the HDMI connector, the box now works"

Assuming that you mean, the hdmi connector on the motherboard, and not that the box works without connecting to a hdmi screen.
Then that's interesting, because as far as I now has the hdmi connector no internal electronic parts, thus most logic is than that internally was shorted.
Nevertheless, quite clever that you found it, my compliments.

Yeah well, 4k is not so interesting, I have them but still use these Xtrend boxes.

No, sorry, I do not know the type or value of these diodes but I assume it's just a regular diode value used for esd.
When you search with google to hdmi esd protection diode then you should be able to find more info about it as these ESD Protection for HDMI pdf datasheet.

Nevertheless, without a esd diode, it should just work, It's just a extra protection and not always present in a receiver.

Hi Johnny B, long time... Just acquired a cheap 8500 myself and found this thread of great interest. Keep up the great work.
I've no issues myself (although I did swap out the fan for a quieter unit) I love your tear down photos.
Looks to be a well made and engineered device, shame they appear to be no longer trading.
    :)

Yes, meanwhile I have them in use by family, friends and myself for a while without any issues, they are to my opinion the best to buy for the price they cost and the hardware and quality and more you get.
