    Hi Johnny,

I do have a Problem with my vu solose, because it does nothing anymor. The USB`s are not working
to load a Enigma. The front LED Lights up and react at leased with the RC, but nothing else. I tried the seriell Output to do an bootlog but nothig happend as well.
-Jtag- I installed jtag with the possible cpu and flash Hynix, everything works fin so far. The Point is I´am able to write to the Flash and to read from the Flash, but do not have a Bootloader for solo se.
Do You think we can repair the box, is it possible to send it to You?

    greetings

You can just use the boot loader etc. from a vu+ solo box.

If the rs232 output doesn't works, but you can access the cpu by jtag, as also the nand flash chip.
    Than I would check/replace the rs232 chip.
I'm not sure it has a normal rs232 port instead of a ttl, but when it has than it's most likely placed on the print side.

    hi Johnny,
the R8232 is included in the IR- connection within a RJ11 socket. I get it working with my zero, but not with the solo se, that means no output at all. My main issue is, to write to the flash because i Need to know where in the register of the flash it`s need to be placed? Should it be at 0-0000 0000 ?
Why You wrote above I can use the solo Bootloader?

Q: Why You wrote above I can use the solo Bootloader?
A: Because in your first post you had it about the vu solo se, and I did not noticed the title which shows that it's the v2 box.
And, as for the Vu+ Solo v2, as far as I known I have never had this v2 version.

About: I asked You, few days ago for the Broadcom 7425 confused me, thus I assumed you needed it for the solo type box.
Now it seems that you needed the BCM7429 which is used for the Vu Solo SE, Vu Solo SE V2, and Xtrend ET8500 but this you figured it already out by yourself.

But as for the bootloader, maybe this topic may helps you.
But it may not be caused due the bootloader, it may also related to the security chip if it's a clone but in your case it's a original thus I have no idea if it's related to a software issue or a hardware issue.

    Q: Should it be at 0-0000 0000 ?
A: If I may guess, then the Offset (hex) 0x00000000 should be fine.

    hi Johnny,
I as well that, that bootloader solo se and the solo se v2 are equal.#, but several times I wrote them down with Broadcom Studio with "success", but the Receiver does notreact. I also tried the vuplus\solose\splash_cfe_auto.bin to write to the Flash without Problem. My Question I have what does this bin
do, is their the Bootloader included?
Until now the seriell Connection don`t show me anything, isn`t strange?
Just maybe a stupid Question- is it neccessary to have the tuner installed? Because i have´nt!

    Q: splash_cfe_auto.bin
A: This can be used to change the start up picture (splash screen) and needs, when wanted be uploaded by the usb method.

Q: Jtag fine, Uploading to nand flash chip fine, but after it no access to the regulair usb flash method, also no serial data etc.
A: by reading this, I think of several things, or the cpu has a issue with reading the nand flash chip, or the reading part of the nand chip has some I/O connection issues to the cpu, or the nand flash chip, the reading side is defective, or the nand flash chip, the reading pin 8 (read enable) is disabled.

More about the nand flash chip (but than about the solo2) you can see here.
But if you have the nand flash chip solder balls version, then it will be difficult to measure/replace.

Hi I have a similar problem with my Sunray Solo SE v2. It's laying in my closet for some time now, I had some PM with Johnny B about it (almost 3.5 years ago...)
My serial does work, but the box doesn't start, I can cancel the bootloader by pressing ctrl-c, but then it's stuck also.
In the past I could get it to start with a little cold spray on the flash chip, but that doesn't work any longer.
I have 2 boxes. The other one works fine.
I think I will give Broadband Studio 3 - Bcm97429 a go, the EZ USB FX2LP CY7C68013A is also present here.
The jtag header looks similar to the Xtrend ET8500 https://jb8a8f8.com/support/index.php?threads/xtrend-et8500-jtag-i2c-info.401/

thanks for Your reply gjstroom. I have seen Your comments about the problem in the British Forum. I made a terrible mistake yesterday with a new one(used) perfect working solo se V2. I intend to load the complete installed Image (VTI) tho the computer via Broadcom Jtag-it take mor then 8h, then it stops, becouse there are only 575 MBit insted of 1GB aviable on the flash, the rest of the image is elswere stored on th machine. So never mind the mainpart I hav on the computer . Next day I start to write that avaible part to my other broken solo se.
Bat his were wose not p0ossible due to the fact that this part is no completed.
Before I started with that I cleaned by mistake the flash of the new receiver with the result that this new one is dead as well- now I'qam very pleased!!! Hop that my English is anderstandable.

What I normally do is when the Bbs can connect to the box, and it can upload to the flash chip while it gives no results is to replace the nand flash chip for another.
Preferably with one which already is prepared to at least to give access to flash the box afterwards on the regular way.
Of course, when I have it removed it, I always check the chip with my programmer if it has any issues.

Boxes which can not be reached with the bbs software has often a cpu issue, or at least a missing 3vDc voltages related to the jtag connector, which is often also caused due a bad cpu.

that is exactly what I was thinking now- is it possible to send You the Mb to dismantle the Flash chip and replace it with the possibility to rich the box via usb? It is a Hinix 27U4G8FDtr. As I have written before it is still possible on both boxes to connect with the Bbs. If You don't mind i'll send You one motherboard to repair, the second solo se V2 as well with the same issue, but this box is complete in the original box without tuner. This box will be for You for Your help. What You think? Your adress is still compufactory in Harlem?
