    Hello,

I bought an VU+Duo not working.
The guys that sell me, try to change C807 and the U801.
He can't remplace the U801. I success for remplacing the U801. Now i've all voltage ok but always stuck on red light. When i connnect hdd , the hdd working but the FAN don't work. When i press on remote control the led switch from red to orange but nothing. When the led is red (switch on "I") the CPU heating. When i plug a flashdisk the led of flash disk didn't work. (I didn't try to flash the receiver)
I checked voltage at the usb port but no voltage

I think it's CPU BGA fault but no idea.
    Do you have an idea?

    Thx

Could be a bad cap C819 or C820.
You can separate them by removing F804 zero ohm resistor and when removed you are also be able to measure from which side the low ohm value arises, before or after this resistor..
Because it does not have to be caused due the dc/dc ic circuit, it may also caused due the cpu or other parts which receive this voltages.

    Thank you for your help

I removed F804 and found the 5 Ohm after F804.

when it's after the F804 zero ohm resistor than it could be the cap C819, ceramic cap C820,
then to the cpu zero ohm resistors.
R233, after it to a cpu dot and C249 then to ground.
R237, after it to a cpu dot and C253 then to ground.
R229, after it to a cpu dot and C245 then to ground.
R222, after it to a cpu dot and C238 then to ground.

These resistors can be found on the right side of the cpu, heath sink must be removed to access them.

When lucky it's one of the ceramic cap or the C819
Otherwise it could be due the cpu.

By removing a zero ohm resistor you could measure from were it comes from.
However, as for the cpu resistors you need also remove the ceramic cap to be sure that it is a cap issue, or a cpu issue.

Also, if it's due one cpu dot, you could leave the zero ohm resistor away to make this voltage line healthy and when lucky the motherboard may still work without the damaged cpu dot.

The U802 section ( ohm and voltage are ok) i didnt need to remove the F804 for checking

My problem is after U801 section after the F803

But to make it a bit worse, there are also some resistor/caps connections on the print side.
    R501 - C505
    R223 - C239
    R231 - C247
    R302

    After the F803...
C812 (near the memory chip U501) and the ceramic cap C813.
After it. it goes directly to several dots from the cpu.

And thus, if it's not caused due the caps, then you have a cpu issue which is not reachable because it are several connections to the center area of the cpu.

    Thank you for help.

    I removed the c812 & c813 and checked alwayd 5 ohm on F803
    The same problèm.

    It s CPU problem.

    Thx

Yeah not so fine to discover, but at least you now know what the cause is. :(

The (ferrari) clones and other uses a security chip.
As for the duo etc it looks and placed on these places.
A original box does not have it, so also not a place to add it.
