I've had a few VU duos in the past and had to repair capacitors. It seems hard to source new psus at the minute. This one may be easier as it doesn't seem to have any bad caps or red light just a fault at the socket where you insert power cable

I have a genuine VU duo that is sparking badly on the PSU board. Its sparking at one of the pins on the kettle lead socket.

I'm wondering if I desolder this component, could I repair it, what couldn't be wrong with it.
Is it possible to get a replacement socket to resolder

    Regardd

Bad solder, or bad solder tracks, or bad/damaged connectors can of-course always be repaired, same as bad caps.
Only, when the psu motherboard has been dramatically damaged it is often no longer possible, or no longer advisable.

And yes indeed, it will be hard to find a seller for these power supply's but there is also a option to build one by yourself by using some Dc to Dc converters as you can see on this pdf file, or in this topic.

Question about a genuine VU duo that is sparking badly on the PSU board, this could be a bad solder somewhere, or damaged, leaking resistor, diode, or some other damaged part.
I think, take some pictures from the psu and enlarge or examine on a computer screen.
A good magnifying glass can also help you find the defective part.
