Hello, m8! You saved my old F500HD once... It's at it again... This time it's the tuner, I think. Coax is OK in other boxes. In F500HD (Japhar SIM) everything works, except the DVB-S, sadly... black... Any chance of resurrecting the old fookah, please? Sentimental reasons... Speaking of which: AZbug HD Elite is stuck on booting, sadly... I bought the cables, tried to do it many times but nada... Maybe it's the soldering at the bottom of the MB, so the processor can't do its job? One user mentioned this on a forum... That's the only thing that comes to mind, given its advanced age... I know it's really useless these days but... like an addict... So, whaddyasay, m8? Possible? And how much, please? Just roughly... if it is as suspected... Cheerio and keep up the good job! P.S. All of the old monsters (Alien2, AZbug, F500HD) give me small electric shocks when I touch them, when I try to connect cables etc. - which new machines do not... I suppose the new generation has better protection? P.P.S. Delfi has Zgemma H7S with a crooked tuner. Any chance of saving that, maybe...? Salvage parts from another maybe? Just remembered, so asking on the off chance... I'll let him know, if it is possible...
Q: F500HD, assuming you have and or could receive the tuner listings and the tuner is recognized etc. A: I think, Check it by playing some kind of movie from a usb stick or/and youtube. See if you get the picture. In any case, when you could choose a channel, and you can see that it has a good reception, and you hear (maybe) sound, but no picture, then it could be a cpu issue. Q: AZbug HD Elite is stuck on booting.. A: There is always a way to connect a rs232 serial connection to the board, and to see into a terminal program as putty where it gets stuck. I'm guessing, thinking it may related to a security chip or at least flashed with a wrong image file. However, I have never had these type receiver in repair, thus I can only guessing based with other receivers. Q: electric shocks when I touch them... A: I think, it could be due the 12vDc power supply. Q: Zgemma H7S.. A: Also with this receiver I have no experiences, simply because I have never had one. Repair... You may always send the stuff you want to repair to me, however I can not give any guarantee that I'm be able to repair it and also since I have allot of things to repair it may take some weeks before I'm be able to start with yours. In any case, send me a Pm if you want me to have it examined / repaired.
Damn! My bad! Old OS v-3-v5 in Japhar SIM card! I haven't used it in a long time and they improved the OS in the meantime, however I missed that piece of info... Older images worked and newer didn't - a clue we (thanx TS!!!) followed... OpenPLi 7.2 is in now: MENU > Plugins > JAM must be put to good use: second option updates the OS in Japhar SIM card... Option is called "Support Japhar SIM v3-v5-v6" > OK > choose 6(0) or 6(1), it doesn't matter > let it reboot, as it is re-flashing the Japhar SIM card... OKI, done, sorted!!! Sorry I bothered you! AZbug is going to a friend to check the solder underneath the processor for cracks and then we'll see... As for Delfi and Zgemma H7 - dunno... must ask him if he still has it... Cheerio and thanx!!!
Johnny, could his friend use a "Fan" with very hot air not too strong the speed of the air, over the CPU, it could get the soldering below enough hot to remelt and reconnect broken soldering ? TS
There is a hot air gun which is used for this type of jobs, you know... Precisely in this case, actually - but...
