Right now I have no reason to think that it could be a hardware failure, more thinking of that it may caused due corrupted data on the nand flash chip.
Maybe because the nand chip has to many bad sectors, or just bad luck with some writings to it when it was in use.
Other possibility is that it has been caused by uploading a image file, and interrupted while uploading.

In any case, this seems to me that it can be fixed with Jtag the motherboard, erasing the nand flash chip, uploading a new Cfe bootloader file, and uploading a new image file on the normal way.

Other option could be to replace the nand flash chip for a new pre-programmed chip.

Right now I could not offer you a tutorial howto jtag the solo2 but when you read this topic then you can see the cypress jtag board you need and the jtag pins etc.
As for the cfe file, this is easy to find on the internet, or else see the Vu-HD site. the vusolo2-flash by jtag file.

Because you have a original, it can maybe it can be fixed with a serial tool, but I have mo nowlidge of it.
The only way it should be done is by using the cypress CY7c68013a board which is cheap to find on sites as ebay.
As for files and bbs software, this I can give you tomorrow later on the day.

    About the Jtag Solo2 original...

    Hardware/software needed..
    1. Vu+ Solo2 receiver for the connection to the P701 connector.
    2. CY7C68013A development board.
    3. Broadband Studio 3 software with the the bcm97346 cpu drivers.
    4. CFE bin file.
    5. And (of course) a windows computer etc.

    First install the,
    1. Broadband Studio 3 software.
    2. Then connect the development board with the usb cable, turn it on, driver install will follow.
    Snap1.jpg
It will do this driver installation twice.

    ---------
Tip, If the cypress board is recognized, but after switching off and connecting the wires it refuses to be recognized.

    then do this,
Leave the ground wire connected, but disconnect the scl/sda wires.
Turn on the cypress board, and when recognized leave it on, and connect the scl/sda wires while the cypress board is on, but of course the box is switched Off.

Then proceed by re-enabling the bbs software, and powering up the box.
    -------

    3. Switch off the development board, Connect the Gnd/Sda/Scl wires to the P701 connector.
Mb P701: Scl -> Cyb. Scl
Mb P701: Sda -> Cyb. Sda
Mb P701: Gnd -> Cyb. Gnd
    Solo2-jtagpins.jpg

    Howto connect step 4.
4A. Start up the Broadband Studio 3 software,
    4B. Choose the Bcm97346,
    4C. Turn On the receiver,
4D. Switch on the development board.

    Or when it not connecting,

4A. Switch on the development board,
    4B. Turn On the receiver,
4C. Start up the Broadband Studio 3 software,
    4D. Choose the Bcm97346.

And when all is correct, you should see the connection to the Bcm97346 cpu but when not, switch Off the motherboard, and turn it On again.
After this you must see a connection, if not, then you have not a good working motherboard or development board or some other cause.
    Snap4.jpg

    5. Choose Flash explorer, choose Samsung K9F2G08UOA, press Refresh, Browse to the Cfe file and press Start.
    snap5.jpg

When finished, disconnect the development board and upload a image file on the regular way by Usb.

    Download...
The Broadband Studio 3 software with the the bcm97346 cpu drivers and pdf instructions can be downloaded from mega.nz, file is 84.3Mb.

An Cfe bin file can be downloaded from beneath, it's for the original, but can also used with clones because I've tested it on a solo2 clone with a new nand flash chip.
And also included the Usb drivers download, normally it should be already installed after the installation of the Bbs software, but just in case you needed.
And just in case needed, I added also the BBS K9F2G08U0A - C - D Samsung scripts which are tested and used by me.

Further some more pics as these which shows some extra info, click pic to see it fully.
    VuSolo2-Snap1.jpg

Or these with info, when connected..
    VuSolo2-Snap3.jpg

And these, shows the motherboard used for the test.
But just in case, I've also noticed the position of the nand chip on the picture, just is case it's needed.

    Indeed,
    vuplus\solo2\
    cfe_cfe_auto.bin
    cfe_cfe_auto.md5sum
    cfe_cfe_auto.model
is the correct way it must be, otherwise the box can't find it.

@Johnny B. :tnx John for your reply today I've received from Amazon the Cypress adapter from chineese vendor but it's the first version ,that with only 1 jumper and a different disposition of GND terminal in left connector(where is SDA and SCL).
well already installed BroadBand Studio 3.1(but i find in computer installed 3.0 too) i try to install the adapter (with jumper 1 on) and nothing happens ,no driver installation follows,in drivers panel I find unknown hardware but without drivers inside,so tried to manual update drivers with windows procedure using "BcmUsb.zip"....but no way....tried with jumper1 on and off ...only hear bleep but no way ,tried to push reset button nothing
a)should i send it back to Amazon ?
b)in case of positive installation Jumper 1 should be on or off ?
    c) as in my adapter (version 1 = 1 jumper) in the connector row under SCL there's no GND but instead PB0 may use whatever GND connector in the connector row ?
    wait for your reply

It's a bit strange if you not have the ground there, but you can take a ground from every metal as the HDMI, lnb connectors etc.

Driver, first, you only need to connect the usb cable to the cypress interface, and check if it's recognized in the hardware/usb list without connecting the jtag(i2c) connections to the receiver.
When it's recognized as a broadcom test adapter, keep it switched on, and connect the jtag sda/scl/ground wires.
Keep looking if the cypress board stays recognized after the scl/sda wires are connected.
if so, start the Broadcom program up etc, turn the receiver on, etc.

If/when the Broadcom hardware recognizing fails while the cypress board is connected with only the usb cable to the computer, then it could be a faulty board.

If/when it failed after connecting the scl/sda wires, then it could be wrong connected, or it's a issue due the CPU.
If/when it failed to recognize the cypres board after connecting the scl/sda wires, and when turning on the receiver, then it could be wrong connected, or one of the scl/sda pins from the motherboard has a voltage drop, lower than the 3v it should have.

Anyhow the first step is to make sure the cypress board is recognized as it should be when it's only connected with the usb cable.
Only then you could make the next step.

Jumper question, I don't know, I always keep it with the jumper(s).

I'm not familiar with these type of board, but, you only have to use the scl/sda and ground connections, and no other connections.

    cy7c6801.jpg

But that is the following thing to do, first it must be recognized as a test adapter, otherwise it has no use to go to the next step.
Maybe it help to use another usb cable, or another usb port, or else it could be that the cypress board is failing due a defect.
Or, I always use windows xp for this kind of things, but also windows 7 seems to work.
But with Windows 10 or 11, it may not work.

When you use w10/11, you could maybe use a wxp bootable cd/usb, I have used it along time ago which I thought was the hirensbootcd
