Hello , suddenly the dec began an unusual behavior first with digital terrestrial channels and then with satellite. after about half an hour the image starts to block then starts again and so on. I thought they were channels that are not well received but it is not so because attacking the other my dec and verifying the signals with the antennist are all good. I do not understand if it's a power problem Item is ETXEZ654M7F thanks
This is not a easy fault to say what it may cause it and to really do a attempt to see what it could be you need some extra parts as a tuner/psu to know if it's caused by one of them. But to give you some ideas... Maybe one of the tuners cause it. Check it with one tuner, remove one to see if it's improves. If not remove it and check it with the other. Power supply, Could be, but when you have removed one tuner and it still gives this issue then I do not think it's caused due the psu, but still it can not be excluded. Cpu/fpga decoding issue, It could be caused due the cpu, thinking of some outdated solder balls which makes bad contact when it becomes warm under the cpu. This can be checked with a fan, blowing to the cpu area. If the box works longer than it now does, then you may assume it's caused due this issue. And if it stays working, you could decide to mount a fan. Fpga chip.. Not sure if it has a separated chip, but when it has a issue, then it could cause this issue. Cool it, to see if it helps. In any case, as I said earlier this is not a easy fault to solve, you need to have some luck to find, and solve it. Also, it does not have to be the things I say, it could also be caused to other parts as a bad cap.
So the tuners do not because I have a second new tuner and it still does. The only thing I can do is put a fan in the cpu area that is ATI if I'm not mistaken and check under the welds? any capacitors to change?
Fan test... yes when it's gives some improves or even stays working then it's most likely a solder issue under the cpu. If that is the case then is a re-flow job often the solution. As for the caps question, I can not say which may responsible for it, simply because I have not this receiver and also not a good picture from the motherboard to give a idea which caps could be responsible.
On point we didn't discussed, did you tried to flash a new clean image ? Does the new flashed image has the same behavior ? As the image could be corrupted or too old, needing something more "recent". You can always backup your actual image/installation, do the test with a new image, then restore the actual installation image after. TS
Look I have another dreambox dm7025 same with the same picture and it does not do this problem. Now I tried to put a fan on the Ati processor, let's see what happens
And if the fan does not help, keep in mind that it also can be caused due the software as some plugin or something. In any case, when you use the same software on the working box, as also the plugins etc, than there is no logical reason to think that it's caused due the software, or the nand flash chip has some bad sectors with corrupted data. In that case it could help to use the dreamup bad sector recovery option while uploading the box with a image file.
The image is never the same, as the bad sector could be an issue, so reflashing the image would help to solve it. The installed image also if same on another box could have got a "different life" and so different plugins or just corrupted during use. It's recommended to reinstall the image from new and if possible to set the Bad Sector Recovery to enabled to clean the Flash, so it installs properly the image. Then if after a new install it gives the same problem, then it could be some other issues such as "heat", so need fan or bad capacitor or PSU that has some parts that wen bad. So do as Johnny explained. TS
I tried to reload the original image of Gemini 2. the loading was successful but when I tried to turn it back on the display does not turn on and you hear only a small silence every time it turns on but no longer goes.
from what I understand you have to connect it with the COM ports, (I loaded the firmware via rj45) now since I have a 9-pin cable but is not null modem there is a scheme to build it?
The activation of the Bad Sector Recovery (BSR) can be done with TELNET / Terminal, directly using the IP of the box when it's in Flash mode. See this : http://www.ourdreambox.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3137#Post3137 TS
the problem is that before I put it in flash mode now that does not turn on the display I can not put it in flash mode
rs232 is not the null modem cable? also because japan or dreamup when i connect connect they say connection prepared now switch on the dreambox
Instructions how to use dreamup with a dm7020 can be seen here.. And yes you need a null modem cable to preform it. One which has the wires.. Pin 2 to the other side pin 3 and Pin 3 to the other side pin 2 And (pin 5) ground to (pin 5) ground.
