Hi JB and everyone, Season's greetings! My main Duo seems to be lower on signal over the last couple of weeks, around 10 to 20 % lower. This is happening on both tuners, so I think it could be caps again. I already changed certain caps and cured this a year or 2 ago. Please can you confirm the caps that I need to check on the PCB please? (Just to remind me). At least, I am hoping it's a cap problem, looks that way. Thank you. Regards, Jules.
When it happens to both tuners while both have separated lnb supply and control ic, then I do not think on a cap issue but rather thinking of the cpu, or from there the c399 or r305, or the coil L301 (maybe burned) near the 54.000 crystal. Or else some issue with the U202 bcm3445 (under the metal shield plate) or surrounded parts to/from it. Other thing could be the 12vdc or other voltages delivery But only when it's certain that it's not caused due the lnb connectors, lnb dish cable etc.
Thanks JB, Will open it up and have a look. Another question though please... I have a spare duo here and I want to clone my main Duo. I make a full back up to USB but it won't seem to program the other Duo. Am I doing something wrong?
Sorry, but to create a full copy of the image file, including the channel listings etc. to usb I have never needed to do, thus no clue. I do only the channels/favorites etc. copy to the next box when needed with the dreambox edit tool. Maybe Toysoft can answer this
Hi JB, Thanks for the info from other forum. Have made a full back up of my system now. I can replace with my spare Duo with my full system on now, while I find the low signal problem with the other one. Regards, Jules.
Hi JB, Season's greetings! Sorted signal problem. c399 or r305 and the coil L301 looked OK, but Cap 848 was swolen. I had already replaced this once before. Replaced it again and signal back up to normal on both tuners. Thanks for your help as always!
Interesting findings, because I would never thought that these voltages could give some influences to the tuners, but thinking further about it, it may indeed. Because this voltage is also used by the cpu, and when this become unstable, it also may give some tuner issues. Thus, it may logical. Anyways, as always, thanks for sharing your solution.
