Hello team, I recently bought a clone box with E-star sim v1.0 installed which I formatted using the image 'openpli-7.2-dm800-sim-e-star-ssl84-Oscam' and which was stuck at boot before I formatted it. For some reason, the particular receiver cannot receive a proper signal although my dish is correctly pointing to Hotbird 13.0°E. In some cases when I do an automatic satellite scan there is an error saying 'Tuner failed'. As you can see in the provided pictures, I noticed that the tuner is different than the OEM Alps module although the device recognizes it as ALPS BSBE2. I tried to measure the voltage on the LNB input with 18 vdc present. Do you believe that might be an issue related to the tuner and which can be fixed by replacing the tuner module? Any help is greatly appreciated! Many thanks!
Another tuner may help, and is often the solution. However, nothing is guaranteed, a hardware problem can also cause it.
Dear Johnny, Many thanks for getting back to me regarding this and for the provided information! If I am correct, BSBE2-401A can work on clone boxes as well right? So I will try to get one of those and replace the tuner. Also what sort of other hardware problem can cause this? An issue with motherboard or power supply for example? Many thanks and best regards!
Yes the BSBE2-401A should work, and you could also use the BSBE2-801A, an rev J is often the best choice but Rev K gives most often also no problems. Rev M may need some resistor mod . More about it, and other tuner issues you can see/read here. But, as far as I see it, it could be limited to a tuner issue. However, be aware that you also need a working sim card. Otherwise it may give startup issues, or a no tuner fault, or no tuner present issue. Further, the boot loader and software must be suitable for the sim card.
Dear Johny, Many thanks for the reply! The tuner is identified, but it's the signal that does not exist or it is very low for a couple of transponders. So this is not something related with the U18 resistor mod right? Also, can you identify this type of tuner? It might be a clone ALPS tuner and this might causing the signal issues? Many thanks and best regards!
No I don't think the resistor mod will help, maybe a recap, best is with smd capacitor as you can see here. Concerns your tuner type, as far as I know I've never had this model so can't say much about it. But the pcb just seems normal to me, the alps tuners also work with this one. Anyway, I would have done a recap in this case, but given the condition there is also a bit of doubt.
Dear Johny, Many thanks for the reply and for the information provided! I think, I will just proceed with the BSBE2-401A replacement and see how it goes! Many thanks for your help, really appreciated! Best regards!
