    Hi Johnny and co,
    Hope you are well!
I have a clone Duo I have repaired using the Buck PSU solution.
I use it with remote channel stream converter for watching channels.

I tried updating firmware but had to go back to old firmware:
    ViX-2.1-vuduo_usb
I have tried many others but this is the only one it will boot up and work with.

I reinstalled RCSC and downloaded channels from my main Duo as before, they appear OK but when I select a channel, it does not work and when I go back to channel list the channel names have become faint and unselectable. (Very frustrating).

Hopefully one of you good people can shed some light on this problem and also why only this one firmware works?

    Thanks in advance.
    Take care!
    Regards,
    Jules.

Install OpenPLi 4.0 for Clone or 7.2star for Original from Japhar/Ferrari Team.

Just tried it but same problem I'm afraid.
Stays on "starting" as it does with every other firmawre I try.
Still only one that will boot up and work is ViX-2.1-vuduo_usb
Thanks anyway but back to the drawing board.
    I'll keep in touch.
    Regards,
    Jules.

I'm thinking of two things by reading this,
One, since the box is a clone, and unknown which security chip it runs, and assuming by this that it's a Ferrari v1 chip, then it may be logic that it fails by the newer software.
When it runs with a VuJ chip/board than it's another story.

Second, The other thing I think of is the Nand flash chip, maybe it can no longer handle the full storage.

    Hi JB,
    Thanks for suggestions.
Funny how it downloads channels with RCSC but they just stay faint.
Is there a diagram for NAND chip please?
Maybe I can try replacing it.
    Thanks.
    Take care,
    Jules.

You probably have the U506 K9F1G08U0A or K9F1G08U0C, but both are basically the same.
    Just google search to K9F1G08U0A

As for the pins it use, you can use this solo2 nand chip connections as a reference, they are basically all the same way connected.

......channels with RCSC but they just stay faint....
This seems to me not a issue with the nand flash chip, rather thinking due drivers or other cause as some settings.
But I have no real idea why/how this may happen.

    Thanks JB,
Can I just replace directly onto board?

The replacement of the nand flash chip is not so hard to do when you have some solder skills.
And there are also allot of Youtube examples how it can do, just search there to nand flash chip replacement or vu+ duo nand flash chip replacement

But the vu+ box must be prepared with the bbs software/jtag and upload the boot loader method before you can upload new flash software on the normal usb way.
Also, you need a cypress jtag board to do it.

Thus yes, when you already have the tools, and the knowledge to do it, then it's not a tough job to do.

    Thanks JB.
Funny thing is, it was working fine on channels already loaded into it by RCSC.
It's only when I tried to update, I had this problem.

    Jules.

Yeah that's a bit strange, but maybe is the list bigger than the old one, and could exceed the amount of nand chip storage.
I have further no experiences with this RCSC, and do not know if it's storage it to the nand chip, or the hdd if you have one in it.

    Thanks JB.
Just to try, is it possible to
    install channels to HDD instead?

Changing the RCSC channel list read/write path looks to me that it should be possible, but I have no clue how.
