Hi Good Morning What's your opinion to reflash the dm520 original with BBS tool ? . When it has some kind bad sector or bug in it . Recovery online, updating boot loader is not enough to clear it . After installing (old 2016/2017) small size image like 50 mb atleast box boots normally but after spinning some time stops working and starts blinking red to blue. btw after going through all possible tests find out its not a image fault. regards
It may, and in some cases do, be caused due a nand chip with more than ten bad sectors. But since most of the newer boxes now have the nand chips with solder balls, it it less easy to replace it for a new one. As for re-flash the dm520 original with BBS tool, I'm not sure if these BBS 73625 already can be found/downloaded, maybe that the BCM7325 works, but that's just a guess. I think, but not sure it can, is to erase and release all bad sectors by a telnet command and/or even flash it with it. Or the serial BOLT mode, which may/could also have option to do it. I have worked with a dm900 box with it and so may expect that it also works for the dm520 etc.
Yes log shows it has 13 bad sectors in flash . I know it will not easy to change nand flash .above all I dont see at internet . Ok I shall try with BCM7325 but do u have dm 520 xml file ? if yes kindly share it . I have tried telnet commands to clear bad sectors but not joy . U mean u cleared dm900 bad sectors through telnet command ?
Q: do u have dm 520 xml file ? A: No, I not have it, and it has only some use to have it when you can create a connection to these receiver by the bbs tool. Q: cleared dm900 bad sectors through telnet command ? A: It was a while ago that I had played with it, and to be honest I have never done this release bad blocks by this way, I always use my nand flash programmer to do it. But it was just some thought that it may help when the bad blocks of the chip are released because, in some situations it may happen that a block has been marked as bad, while it's not.
Thanks for reply . I m trying other possible ways to fix issues like through serial port and hyper terminal .But I have noticed to days tests .its not easy to recover bad sector area as we had it in old dreamboxes through dreamup and tenet .
In that case without replacing the nand chip, then I have no other good ideas, maybe it's possible to use a usb stick for the main storage. I don't think it can, but it's at least a nice idea, I think.
its not possible because boot from other source is not defined in bootloader script. its not created in recovery script ( as its in Octagon 8008V2). all the other options like multiboot etc are totally software base .if the flash has bad blocks we cant do it even in software to.
