hi back in december psu reg KA5L0565R blew its top ,and took out surface mounted q01, r05 r10 both 1oo ohm
and the troublesome zener diode zo1 . it worked fine for 3 months no overheating .
well since then its blown twice more ,the second time it lasted 2 months so im thinking :
either the reg/switch KA5l0565r (i bought 5 from china for about 20 quid) are poor quality
or the value of the zener that i fitted z 01 is wrong ,
so if anyone has repaired the primary or can look at their z01 zener, and let me know its value
it would be a great help
ive replaced all the caps that are known to give problems, i know it owes me nothing and i should upgrade the box ,but theres a lot stored on the hdd that i want to keep
    thanks

Sorry to hear that the weather is defective, and indeed, hopefully others can and are be whiling to help you with the z01 zener information.
Or you can think of building a psu with some Dc to Dc converters and a laptop psu as you can see here.

    progress
bootloop problem , reflashed v2 clonesafe image apollo .023 ,
but still bootloop ,so tried again with hdd leads unplugged ,
    it then booted as normal
so entered cfg file and enigma2 plugin mipsel.ipk
    all ok .
havent re connected hdd yet ,
wondered if i should remove hdd and reformat on pc then re install it in the duo ?
strange that it appears to cause bootloop problem
finally as there is no access to pludins via ferrari addon manager is there any alternative ?
,as i want to use cacheflush

    HDD question, it depends,
If it's a 3.5-inch drive which consumes more amps and uses the 5 and 12vDc to operate, then I would replace it at least for a 2.5-inch drive which are used for laptop an uses only the 5vDc to operate, as also a much lower amps consumption.

As for the software question,,, is there any alternative than using the ferrari addon manager, or to fix (the link to) access to plugins.
I think that Toysoft can better answer this, or somebody else who knows more about it.

the psu blowing the fet /reg in the primary
seems to have been caused by the 100uf smoothing block as it was down to 80uf on my cap meter (esr ok)
once replaced the heatsink for the two diodes on the 5v rail now run a bit cooler
when the fet cant deliver the current ,the opto couplers turn on the reg to compensate this in turn causes the psu to run hotter than normal .
    ill keep you posted
the main micro (the one with the black heatsink ) always seems to run hot ?
    even when its in standby,

so i may make a larger heatsink to try to keep it cooler ,
problem is the original heatsink is only glued to the top of the micro ,
the fan circuit ,before you ask is working fine
finally the zener in the psu zd01 im using a 15v type
