    Hi JB and everyone,
Put the other Duo to one side for now.
I have put a 1TB HDD in another Duo.
    This has OpenATV installed.
Problem is HDD keeps crashing the box shortly after playing
a recording. Is there an issue with larger HDD's please?
I have a 1TB HDD in another Duo and that is OK.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Jules.

I think it might be due to the power consumption of the HDD used.
Or the power supply, the 12/5VDc is too weak to handle this hdd, often it can happen with the hdd 3.5 inch because they use the 12 and 5VDc and consume more amps.
When using a 2.5 inch hdd it will work with only the 5Vdc and less power consumption, and may work better.
I currently use 2.5 inch ssd drives, which use low amps and (obviously) only the 5VDc without any problems.

    Just another thought,
If I used a buck power supply from 12v line and set the 5v to control the HDD, do you think that would work?

When you feed the hdd 12v and 5v Dc power with a external power supply then it should work, and may not harm the receiver.

    Hi again,
Just tried buck supply fed from duo 12v supply.
    Set it to 5.2v.
Seemed to work fine on the bench, selecting recordings aswell.
This was without anything plugged in to duo except mains cable.

Plugged in LNB, ethernet and hdmi, now same problem as before.
    Annoying.

Maybe the 5v collapsing when plugged in one of them.
Maybe one of them consumes more than usual.
But also, It may be the cpu, or a weak 5v circuit.

    Hi JB,
I did measure voltages but only without other cables plugged in.
They read normal, but as you say they could drop when more things connected.
As you suggested earlier in this topic, I will try a 2.5cm HDD and let you know what happens.
    Thanks,
    Jules.

    Hi JB
Installed a 2.5cm 1GB HDD and working fine now.
As you said, I notice it consumes about half the
    current of the 3.5cmHDD
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Jules.
