    Hi guys!

I've this newbdvb dvb800hd pvr that a friend of mine gave me without remote.

I had to reflash it, because it doesn't boot. I've flashed a openpli 6 image and I have a gbs remote (programmed via IR, it has thousands of codes, it is a very good remote). I've tried the two dm800 codes done for the remote, but it doesn't work.

Is there any way to understand of the or sensor on the dm motherboard is working?

    Thanks!

Not sure if, but maybe you see some reaction on the IR receiver sensor of the front panel when you use a camera.

But if you want to know what the box does by starting up, then it's better to connect the box with the serial rs232 connector and to use a terminal program as putty or windows hyperterminal for it.

As for the software, be sure you use the software which is suitable for the type sim card it has as also the type receiver.
Be also sure to known if you dealing with a clone or original box.

    Thanks for the reply!

Of course it is a clone, using a 2.01 SIM.

The camera of my phone shows the ir response only from the remote, not from the ir of the box.

I can use rs232. Can you please explain what should I do to check it via rs232?

Yeah indeed, just checked, the front panel Ir does not shows a response, as for the rs232 terminal output and for example pressing the volume up/down should show some response as this,

Of course, other remote buttons should also give/showing some response into the terminal screen.
Basically the same, when you use the open webif remote controller from the box.

    Thanks for the advice!

In the meantime, I've flashed an older image and it seems that the remote is working. I said "it seems" because the box came to the "video output option" (the first menu after the complete boot) only one time. Then it hangs and I have to reboot it.

I have to say that I don't have the original 3A ac/dc adapter. I'm using a 2.5A adapter. Do you think 2.5A is not enough for the DM800HD?

An 2.5 amp psu should be enough for a dm800hd, as long it gives a vdc voltages between at least the 12/13 vdc.
When it's lower than the 12v, then it's wiser to try it with another psu.

Reboot/hang issues could be caused due the psu, tuner (try it without), or a bad lower dc to dc voltages delivery, or by software.

I've tried without the tuner. The box reboots or sometimes not boot (red led blinking and nothing on screen).

Is it the psu, maybe? Or also: I've seen that the first big capacitor from the left (looking the box with the card reader on the left) was changed and it has a bigger size. Maybe any other cap have to be changed? No one of them seems to be a bad capacitor.

If you mean the 4700uf/10v C112 cap, then yes.
When this cap has issues, or has a to high voltage value then it will give startup or reboot issues.

A 16v instead of the 10v cap should not make a difference, but it's better to keep it as it was.
I would replace it, actually I would replace all 4700uf caps to see if it helps solve the problem.

Unfortunately I still haven't found four new 4700uF caps.

I hope to fix this dm800hs as soon as possible!
