Vu+ Solo2 - HW ERROR

    Maybe due a upgrade or something, in any case see if you again can fix it with the older files otherwise if that doesn't helps it could still be caused by another hardware failure thinking of a bad flash chip or some caps.

    The re-procedure works. I will check with older BH 1.7.x.x 2.0.x.x images. For example, it accepts all software from solo2 clones and some even work.

    BlackHole-2.1.6-vusolo2_usb_releas i BlackHole-3.1.0-vusolo2_usb_release_20201005_b5f1952.zip
    which was not possible before. Fully configured image the same that runs on the other two OpenPLi7.3 solo2. I thought that the problem is with the kernel of the images because the kernel 3.3.8 images were installed to the bh_2.0.7 version. OpenPLi_7.3 is at 3.13.5 KERNEL. In the process, I also tried to replace drivers in images that did not work, e.g. /lib/modules/3.3.8-2.0/extra. Without success. On the second day, solo2 failed to boot from deep vigilance. It is the same as in the previous post in the video attachment. Every 180 seconds. Solo2 restarts. It reset itself 1 time and booted up properly. Then 10 manual hard reboots and it didn't work again. It's a waste of time to keep flashing Solo2.

    What is happening is shown in the video YouCut_20201116_195806495.rar and the rest of the description is above.
    Solo2 only works to the image bh 2.0.7 at first. Online update had no effect. Solo2 crashed after updating online. Then I did not restart Solo2 but only gui restart and I managed to install an image higher than bh_2.0.7 but after some time the same thing happens. Restarts loop every 180 seconds. Sometimes it will boot itself properly and work again for a while and restart again. At the end, as it already works, I always install the latest original image from the manufacturer Vu+ OI 3.0 and OpenPLi_7.3. Sometimes, after 10 correct reboots from deep standby, there are also restarts every 180 seconds.

    Solo2 sometimes starts e.g. 10; 15 times correctly or restarts by itself every 180 seconds. Then flashing is advisable. It's an endless activity.

    Everything is described here in this post. I already repeat myself in subsequent ones. You have to read my posts from the beginning to understand this.

    I would bet for something that is giving some Amp/Voltage to the FPGA in this case, that looks defective (loss of memory/power).

    Is it NAND Flash memory? It does not lose memory because, having a programmed image, it sometimes starts up correctly and sometimes, for example, after 1 restart after 180 seconds. and running another 10 correct starts with the same image. In the same image, it works once and doesn't work. It can run 1 on the same image or restart on the same image.

    Where to find exactly these voltages on the motherboard? You probably need to measure the voltage during normal operation and during an error? Can't see putty in the logs? I was making logs here.

    What I mean is that some condensator could not pile up enough power to start the device to work properly, or it goes instable. This is hardware related, not software.

    it's possible. Which question? There are not as many of them as in duo2 but there are several of them? It makes no sense to list them all.

    Yeah well when I had have it in repair and the box runs again, but restart spontaneously after a x minutes, and do not think on the flash chip which I already had replaced because I have done it more often thus for me it's a 6 minutes job, then I would try it with another 12Dc 3 Amp power supply to see it it stays stable with it.

    I replaced the power supply. These are also capacitors. I will see what will work.

    I am not 100% convinced that it is the fault of some capacitor, because Solo2 does not respond to images higher than BH_2.0.7 after flashing. It only starts on version 2.0.7 or lower. The fact that it reacted to version 2.1.3 may have been a coincidence, as it only reacted to it after a self-restart. It may also be the fault of both, i.e. FPGA and capacitor updates. Maybe that's why it's so hard.

    The same errors appear on the replaced second power supply. So the power supply is working properly.

    which capacitors would you qualify for replacement or checking? Maybe some of the FPGA power supply? Do you have any suggestions?
    Do you have a list of all capacitors from solo2? Maybe it is worth getting ready to replace all capacitors?

    Sorry to say but there is no list of all the caps etc.
    But with the exception of the ceramic smd caps all others has the value written on them and so these are replaceable.

    The Fpga chip will most likely work with the 3.3v, which is regulated I think by the regulator near it, and I think that the input of the regulator has 5v and the output is 3.3v

    ok. Thanks, yes with capacitors it is a simple matter. It is a bit worse to work with SMD capacitors if you need to replace all the capacitors. Do you have any picture of these elements with FPGA?

    Ceramic smd caps are most often shorted when they fail and when it has been damaged it's often to see on the color, then they are probably darker than normal.

    As for the fpga question, I'm not sure what you asking but if it's to like to have a close picture from it, then I think take a look here.

    Do you mean this item as pictured and voltage measurements? The meter shows me two voltages in the auto and manually. I attach photos. Was that what you meant? What else to measure? Is there a service manual with voltages for solo2? You cannot see which system is due to the technological hole. I think maybe it's U808 because next to NAND Flash is U809. I'm not sure.

    Yeah voltages are fine, I thought it runs on 3.3v with a input of 5v, but it's,
    pin1 Gnd but not directly connected to ground, it has resistors between it
    Pin2 (Center pin and top output) 1.5v
    Pin3 (input pin) 3.3v

    Ohm values measured between a ground spot and the measurement spot,
    pin 1 214 Ohm
    pin 2 1136 Ohm
    pin 3 157 Ohm

    So as you can see is the Gnd pin not directly connected to the ground, thus for a good vdc measurement you must measure pin 2 and 3 from a real ground spot instead of the ground pin 1 because then the measurements may a bit lower.

    The voltages are correct.
    UPin2 (Center pin and top output) 1.509v
    Pin3 (input pin) 3.31v

    What to check now?

    I checked the voltages of a similar U809 chip around the processor and Nand Flash memory. It's almost 0.00V there.
